Carbonproject.org Benefit Concert- Features Kelli O’Hara, Greg Naughton, Brian Chartrand, Rich Price, and The Dissipated Eight
The Vermont Commons School, located in South Burlington, Vermont, has launched a student-run business encouraging local companies and homes to become certified as "Carbon Zero." Through the combination of reducing carbon emissions, using renewable resources, and adopting a carbon sequestration program, the participating businesses receive a net zero carbon output. The goal of The Carbon Project is to reduce global warming and the impact of carbon emissions “one tree at a time”. The concert will be featuring Kelli O’Hara, Greg Naughton, Brian Chartrand, Rich Price, and The Dissipated Eight; all proceeds from the concert will be placed towards The Carbon Project.
Kelli O’Hara has an astonishingly lovely voice that will sail to the highest ceilings, and down to your heart. You may have seen her starring on Broadway in shows such as “The Light in the Piazza” or opposite Harry Connic Jr. in “The Pajama Game.” She is true talent fully manifested, and has two Tony and Outer Critics Circle Nominations, and one Drama Desk Award Nomination. O’Hara is soon to be starring in the much anticipated Lincoln Center Theater revival of “South Pacific.” She will be performing selections from her lengthy repertoire, focusing on her cabaret and jazz pieces.
Greg Naughton, television actor for “Law & Order” and “Conviction,” has been infused with music for the entirety of his life. Founder of the award-winning Blue Light Theater Company, Greg has been a powerful presence as an upcoming musical artist, and will be performing his original rock-pop pieces with band-member Rich Price. Soon to be releasing his own album, “Miles From Anywhere,” Price’s musical background, ranging from Nigeria to Oxford University to New York City, gives him a unique sound that is a culmination of his life’s experiences. Price believes that “songwriting only works when you’re able to convey some emotional truth.” Originating from this understanding of music, emotion, and creation, Naughton, Brian Chartrand, and Price have created innovative songs that are not only complex, but strike a chord with audience members.
The Dissipated Eight is a collegiate all-male a cappella group based in Middlebury College, Vermont. “D8” will perform popular music that their harmonizing tones, featured three times on Best of College A Cappella compilations, have fully mastered.
The performance will be held in the Higher Ground Lounge on December 2nd, ticket price is $30 and is $25 tax deductible. For more information look on line at highergroundmusic.com.
